Research - Social/Political

Economics | Education | Health | Information Technology | Media | Social/Political

The Institute's studies on Latinos in the media examine both their representation in film and television as well as consumer preferences and the role language plays in decision-making.

TRPI’s studies on Latino engagement of entertainment and other forms of media have been lauded by the Screen Actors Guild, policymakers and industry stakeholders for its innovative approach to reporting the content and language preferences of Latino viewers, quantifying the Latino entertainment consumer market and describing the employment conditions faced by Latino actors.

While there have been noticeable improvements in Hollywood in recent years, the issue of diversity on network television and the industry at large continues to be salient. Our research will continue to examine opportunities and challenges facing Latinos in media today, as well as the Latino consumer market’s rapid rise and the outreach amongst advertisers, broadcasters, publishers and the film industry to engage this community.
